Close Encounter of a Bear Kind

Returning from Nags Head yesterday, I took the slow boat home. That’s what Kitty and I call it when I’m coming home from somewhere and take my time on sidetracks and staying open to stopping to take pictures. Yesterday’s slow boat got me a wonderful encounter with a HUGE bear in Dare County. This old fellow was browsing the roadside for grass and berries. It’s pretty apparent that this old fellow has seen his share of tough confrontations including at least one tagging. He seemed little concerned by me or my orange car (which I STAYED inside). I’m still excited.
