Bowie Railroad Museum
Bowie (MD) Station was opened by the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad in 1872. Huntington City grew up around the station. In 1880, the city name was changed to Bowie to honor Maryland Governor Odeon Bowie. The station was closed in 1989 when the new stop at Bowie State University (just north) was opened. Since then it has become a small railroad museum and is the home of the National Railroad Historical Society’s Martin O’Rourke Railroad Research Library.
