Commuter Tunnel
Main Street in Elkridge , Maryland is cut in half by the railroad track running to the Thomas Viaduct. Once upon a time there was a pedestrian underpass of the track. It was once the site of a passenger station. The entrance “periscopes” are now sealed to traffic. From the north side, one can still see the tunnel through iron grate work. The double track of the Washington Brance there are still heavily used.
