Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit - Virginian

Norfolk Southern’s black and white “color” scheme can get pretty samey. But, they do have a few special paint jobs. A few years ago, they saluted the railroads absorbed into Norfolk Southern over the years. The Virginian commemorative visited Chocowinity in November. Virginian Railway was founded in 1907 and became part of Norfolk & Western in 1959, although several railroads tried to combine with them earlier but failed to get government approval. N&W merged with Norfolk Southern in 1980. 1069 is a 2012 EMD SD70ACe.
