Kitty and I visited Pungo Lake at Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge today. Things don’t pick up there for the birds until next month, and we visited during the heat of the day. All together, that meant not much action. HOWEVER, we did spy some bears sleeping in trees. The largest seems to have trouble getting comfortable. A couple of hours later, we revisited and found that she was awake and on the ground. One cub was there with her and a second cub was working his way down. After nursing them both for a few minutes, she led them off into the brush.
