Heritage Unit - Interstate

Norfolk Southern’s black and white “color” scheme can get pretty samey. But, they occasionally roll big and splurge for special paint jobs. One of those occasions is the salute they did some years ago for all the railroads which were absorbed into Norfolk Southern over the years. The Interstate commemorative (AKA “The Creamsicle”) is a 2012 GE ES44AC (#8105). Interstate Railroad ran in southwestern Virginia. The Creamsicle arrived in Chocowinity on February 3, while another commemorative unit (First Responders 911) was running E52 to Aurora.
