Foggy Marsden Night

On January 3, a late night fog rolled into Washington. A few crackles on the scanner reminded me that Norfolk Southern’s E53 were building a train on the other side of the river. I grabbed a bag of equipment and headed for Chocowinity. I enjoyed dancing with the train as it rocked forward and then back and forward again and back again, shuffling cars around the yard and arranging them for the next day’s customers — the sound and light muted by the close, tiny, floating droplets of liquid air.
